Mini Monday: Round About

Happy October!  Where did September go?  I'd like to ramp up my production of Priority: Alzheimer's Quilts and other small projects on the to-do list, so I'm introducing Mini Mondays to keep me on track.

Spiral quilting
Today I have October's mini for the AAQI Quilt a Month Club to show you.  Round About is made with more leftover scraps from the Quilt Con block challenge.  This little quilt features a small four patch block in the center framed by strips of various solids.

Mini quilt top
The spiral quilting was done with my walking foot using Gutermann gray thread.  The backing fabric is a Remix stripe from my stash.

The back
I followed Victoria's method of facing a quilt.  This is my new favorite way to finish a small quilt.

Round About
I still need to register this quilt and update my page while I am at it.
By the way, AAQI's October online auction starts today.  There are some gorgeous quilts up for bid!

Happy Monday!  Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Love your mini. And acutally, Jean Wells claims that facing technique big time from years ago and you don't want to mess with her claiming, trust me ;) I took her workshop from her, so ask me how I know ;)

Love all you do and all you continue to do, Rene'..and yes, I still list you on your (my) first AAQI group page..I had you first;) But you have done so well and inspired others to contribute so wonderfully. I'm just giving you extra publicity! See my quilt up at auction and think about upping my big, readers!

  2. I love the colors. You have such an eye for colors. I also like the way you did the circle stitch. Before long, I hope that my comments can be more technical. In the meantime, know how much I love your quilts.

  7. I like your mini Monday mini quilt. The circular quilting on the squares works well.
