Live Laugh Love

I made a little mini quilt and I didn't see any pigs flying!  That's a good sign, right?  Last week I spent some time with my sewing machine and the world didn't stop ;-)

#10,172 Live, Laugh, Love
AAQI's Quilt a Month Club motivates me to make at least one little quilt a month.....although I'd like to be more productive than that.

Most of the quilting was done by machine, but I hand stitched the words Live Laugh and Love with hand-dyed perle cotton.

I did FMQing in a loopy pattern similar to the backing fabric.

Speaking of AAQI, the above video shows the quilts chosen for May's auction.  The online auction runs the first ten days of each month.

I'm proud to announce that our Orlando Modern Quilt Guild has a group page of Priority: Alzheimer's Quilts made by our members.  Check it out here!
Quilts for sale of this page can be purchased at any time.
Don't forget Mother's Day is right around the corner!

Seriously?!

Has it really been a month since my last post?!  Hmmm, well there hasn't really been much to report other than I really miss y'all.  Feels like I'm been traveling more than I've been home, and today is no exception.

This weekend I am off to the Big Apple with some bossy friends very good friends who insisted (if you look closely you will see the marks where they twisted my arm!) I get away for some R & R.

I finished my packing early for once so decided to whip up some goody bags to take on my trip.  I didn't follow a pattern for these, but instead just went with an idea I had in my head and made adjustments with each one.  Of course, the photos are of the first (and worst) bag made.

Do you like the ribbon tie on this bag?  It's from a jelly roll I purchased at Gruber's during last summer's quilt retreat.  I love being able to reuse items this way!

The bags are really just for fun to hold those travel essentials such as chocolate, tissues, mints, bandaids (for the inevitable blisters from walking too much), chocolate, gum, oh and more chocolate!

These little "happys" for my friends are now tucked inside my suitcase.  I knew saving those Moda, Kaufman, Island Batik, etc. ribbons from fabric purchases would come in handy one day ;-)

Quilting Modern arrived on my doorstep just in time for this trip, and it, too, is safely tucked inside my carryon bag for reading on the plane!

AAQI #7111 I Spy a Button by Marcia Middents
One last bit of exciting news before I say goodbye.  Today the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative is launching Facebook Foto Friday (follow the link for more details), and I am participating by sharing the above Priority: Alzheimer's quilt on my Facebook page. AAQI #7111 I Spy a Button was made by the talented and dedicated Marcia Middents, and it now proudly hangs in my Sewing Lab!  Thanks so much Marcia for all you have done for this great cause and especially for helping me so much with my $1,000 Promise questions.

So have you taken a picture of any Priority: Alzheimer's Quilt you've purchased and posted it on Facebook for others to see?  Haven't purchased a quilt from AAQI yet, you say?  There are plenty of gorgeous ones for sale here!

Happy Friday and happy stitching!
