I don't know why I have such a hard time coming up with a quilt for my daughter's bed. I have started and discarded so many projects for her, you can't even imagine.
But I'm back to work trying again. I received this color stack from Pink Chalk Fabrics and this seems like a perfect place to start. Don't you love those peace fabrics?! I have some other great fabrics that I think will look nice mixed in...like those Tufted Tweets I won from Robert Kaufman, for example.
This should be so much better than the latest round of discarded blocks .... which I did not even take pictures of .... even though I spent all day working on them.
I also pulled this LOVE wip out to work on. This is another project that I don't understand why I can't get it going. I love this fabric...just think I haven't found the perfect pattern for it yet.
Maybe I can squeeze some sewing time in today. I'll be taking a quick road trip to my sister's tomorrow....going to lure her to the dark side...quilting ;-)

You have many goodies there to play with. I find the problem with buying a whole line of something, to make a quilt, is that there are now lights mediums or darks... so they look all muddy together... they usually are a whole lot of medium tones...
ReplyDeleteI also find it hard to make something my daughter will LOVE... it's usually the people I know best, are just the HARDEST to select things for! good luck! have fun playing and "dark siding" ;-)
I think it's because our girls mean so much to us! we want the PERFECT fabric and pattern, and want it to look just so...our at least that was my problem until I had no choice but to get over it because Little Bit was royally peeved and getting jealous of the baby quilts I was making.
ReplyDeleteI agree totally. I've been planning quilts for both my 'children' - boy 26, girl 24 - for ages. I have finally started Sara's after taking her fabric shopping and making her choose something. She was after turquoise, we bought pink which about sums it up! David know he wants his quilt in blue and white but after that comes a list of what he doesn't want...shades of blue, traditional blocks, a repeating design! I love them so much I want to get their quilts perfect but it does mean they'll have to wait a long time for them!
