Making Waves

I was determined to finish the waverunner quilt top today.  I would have too if I hadn't promised myself and others to remember that thing called Balance.  Ugh!!!  I guess another word for it could be reality....as in the reality of doing laundry, picking up my kids from school (they don't allow them to stay overnight...grins), attending my son's soccer game, helping with homework, countless other tasks as I'm sure you can relate.

This is it on the design wall...along with a bunch of scraps.  I'm not totally (not even a little) in love with it, but I like it more than when I first started. Victoria was very helpful in her encouragement and suggestions. Thanks Victoria.

I know if I put this aside, I will never bring it out again. It's not that I don't like the wavy blocks.  I think I am unhappy with my color and fabric choices.  One day, I'd like to try this again in other fabric.  For this one, however, it's got to be completed this week.  The quilting may not get done right away, but I am determined the quilt top will be finished soon.

You can see I am trying to use all the scraps I can in order to complete this quickly.  Still not enough...guess I will be sewing more strips....AFTER the soccer game.

Have an amazing day!!

  1. Oh Rene'...your day sounds amazingly familiar! LOL Today is ironing, pick up kid from school (I wish they would let them stay all night!), reschedule ortho appointment, basketball etc

Your quilt is pretty. It's a challenge and something that stretches you. Don't put it down...it's like the kid who gives you the most trouble but is so worth it in the end!

  3. I understand the balance thing....I like the quilt and wonder if that is cotton fabric and are you just making wavy seams? Have never seen anything like that before, I think my sister would love to try something like that.
