Sew & Tell Friday #1

It is funny how things work out.  I did not know what to post on this first (for me) Sew & Tell Friday.  (By the way, here is the link to Sew and Tell Friday).   My Facebook friend Lorraine challenged everyone to wear pink each day of October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  At the same time, I happened to see on CNN a report about Couture for a Cause and Blue Jeans for Pink and decided to make my own pair of "designer" jeans in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Go here to read the article and see 16 jeans designed by celebrities to see where I got the idea.

So I took my oldest pair of Lucky jeans and got to work.  This is definitely out of my comfort zone, but I just went for it.  Below is a picture of the Love button I sewed on the front pocket.

I took some pink ribbon I had on hand and sewed it on the other front pocket for my Pink Ribbon.

I ironed on flower appliques to the left leg.  I love the bright pink and black ribbon on the cuffs.  You probably can't tell, but the strip of fabric above the flowers is from yesterday's project and is a pink ribbon design.  The top strip is still under construction.  I have a few more "blings" to sew on.

I took this same pink ribbon fabric, cut it with pinking shears and put on the back pocket.

I was having so much fun, I "designed" a pair for my daughter.  She isn't a pink person, so I did more green with a little pink thrown in.

I'd still like to do some embroidery on my jeans.  I feel like I'm back in high school embellishing my jeans and jean jacket.  I hope you enjoy my first Sew and Tell as much as I did.  I am rushing out to the high school homecoming game.  When I get back, I look forward to seeing all the other Sew and Tell Friday projects.

  3. The jeans are way too cute and love how they're for a cause. I think the heart on the back pocket is my favorite. Contratulations on stepping out of your comfort zone and being as brave as the women who have cancer...all kinds!
    Blessings!
