Dear Friends,

How are you?  How have you been?  I hope all is well with your world.
I've missed you during this unplanned, self-imposed exile of mine.  For the most part, I have been "offline"for about two weeks now, and I really feel out of touch.  However, I felt the ban of the internet (and the tempting draw of Blogland) was necessary to focus on matters that I had let slide.

Occasionally someone gets a picture of me ;-)
This week I am on vacation with my family in Montana.  Originally, I was not excited about taking this trip as I have way too much to get caught up on plenty to keep me busy at home.  However, I think some R and R is just what I needed.  I put my foot down and informed my husband that I was not skiing at all this trip, and that instead, I planned to use the time to get organized and work on a few projects.  My husband pouted at first, but I think he realized I needed a few mental health days;-)  I brought a bunch of paperwork, lists of phone calls to make and emails to write, and quite a few quilting projects to work on.  However, I just discovered Netflix, and the first few days was spent watching old romantic comedies (and Law and Order Criminal Intent reruns).  I am hoping my mind and body just needed some down time, and now I can move on to more important tasks.  I still have three days of vacation....plenty of time, right? ;-)

What I am NOT doing this trip...or any trip
During this down time, I've also done some thinking about my blog.  I miss being able to write daily Monday through Friday blog posts.  I work better with a routine and a schedule. When I couldn't keep that pace, I got out of sync and didn't really bother posting regularly.  So, I've been pondering a solution.  Do I post less frequently?  Do I write shorter posts?  Is it even possible for me to write a short post? ;-)  I'm still contemplating.   No promises, but hope to come up with a plan I can live with and stick to ;-)

So what have I missed?  What have you been up to these past two weeks?
Have an amazing day!!!  I'm going to check a few things of my To Do list;-)

  1. Happy holidays and hope you enjoy your break! I too have the same issue with my postings but sometimes other things just have to come first. I am sure we will find a schedule that works eventually.-)

  2. Balance is the key, isn't it? And that may be different each day, each week for me. So no guilt about blogging...afterall, it's supposed to be fun! I know how much time it can take to put a post together, so no pressure on my fellow "blog-when-we-can" friends!!

  3. I've missed hearing from you, but I completely understand the need for a blogging break when life gets too hectic! I'm glad that you are off enjoying your family and that you are all well!

  4. Glad to see you back, Rene'! Do what you want to do, not what you think you have to do. If you need a routine, why not just post on certain days? I try to blog on MWF and find that that's enough to keep people reading and enough to keep me satisfied! But most importantly...do what makes you happy!

  5. You're looking good out there in the snow and sunshine! enjoy the break - sure you'll come up with a plan that works for you! I too am a creature who likes routine - it makes those "mental health days" even more fun when we take them!

  6. You look wonderful out amongst the snow. You've been missed, but figure out what works for you and don't feel pressured by what anyone else does. Blogging actually takes quite a bit of work. Sometimes, I think about quitting, but it is the online and hopefully in person friendships that makes it worthwhile.

  7. If you need that scheduled thing, do it. If not, don't. Do what is right for you. After years of scheduled time, I have found that being "out there on my own" has been much more creative and stimulating. However, that being said, when recently being out of touch for over a week, [not by choice, but by AT&T] I realize how much I miss my online friends. However good for me the imposed hiatus may have been, I was at loose ends. Which brings us all back 'round to balance. Welcome back

  8. Oh, how I wish I was there with you!!! You know how much I love reading your blogs, but sometimes we need a break...and you certainly deserve some "down time!" What have I been up to you ask? Kendall's quilt. And, as usual, I'm not happy with what I have so far. I am my own worse critic...haha!! Love and miss you :)

  9. It's okay to take a break from life. In fact, I hear it's a good thing, although I haven't done it in awhile. I bet it felt great to breath in that fresh mountain air! I doubt you've missed much. One of us would have emailed you if it was urgent! Take it easy, my friend!

  11. I hope you got the rest you needed. I love some quiet time. We just had a week at my Mum and dad's where my son just follows them around. It is so nice.
