What's Up Wednesday: More Projects

When I arrived home, my design wall was empty for a change.  (Have you noticed the list of WIPs on my sidebar has gotten smaller?)  The 22 blocks I made at retreat are now up on the wall.

The lighting is better in this picture....
On the design wall
I probably have another five or six checkerboard blocks in various stages of completion....really looking forward to getting back to piecing these cowboy/cowgirl blocks.

Since returning home (and while recovering from jet lag and four different time zones), I have noted some great blocks, QALs and tutorials found online that I want to try.

I printed the instructions and selected fabric for these projects....that's a start, right?

The Great Granny Block quilt a long

I have plenty of jelly rolls that want to be made into a quilt.  The Great Granny Block seems like a perfect project to use leftover jelly roll strips or to unroll that favorite jelly roll that has been sitting pretty on a shelf.

Michele's vintage butterfly block
My buddy Michele and her butterfly quilts were just featured over at Quilt Inspiration.  They drafted a pattern based on Michele's antique quilt, and shared it here.  For these blocks, I am using some beautiful Amy Butler and Kaffe fabrics I've been hoarding, and think it will be fun to also use selvages I have been collecting for the center strip.

Crazy Mom Quilts ragged squares tutorial
Amanda and Margaret's Hope Chest are collecting ragged squares blocks for a work party to assemble quilts for Project Hope.  I should have completed these blocks before the retreat, but I didn't.  Good for me, the deadline has been extended to July 31st....I better get busy.

Pink Penguin's mini fabric tape tutorial
I love Ayumi's blog and am blown away by her creativity.  Mostly I just drool over her eye candy, but recently I saw her tutorial for mini fabric tape as part of the Christmas in July that I think is just my speed.

I need to learn how to crochet!
I pulled this Crochet! book out the other day.  Learning to crochet (as I don't think I can ever knit) has been on my list of to dos, and now I think is the time to finally figure it out.  Amanda, Cindy and Mary were crocheting at the retreat, and there is this cool fusion blanket crochet along going on right now.  That's a sign, right?

Looking forward to seeing your blocks. Great fabric choice for your blocks. I just adore the butterfly block. Its been added to the 'one day' list. You certainly will be stitching your little heart out. Enjoy!

  5. I made my mom teach me to crochet on vacation so I can do some of those blocks, too. You really made great progress on that cowboy quilt. I just love it. I hope I can get that done sometime! I love the granny squares quilt, too, but I cannot take that one on right now! LOL
