This One's for Me!

I'm keeping this quilt for myself!

It has a special story and meaning to me....not to mention, I absolutely love this quilt ;-)

Toni, Amanda, Me, Shelly, Mary, Victoria, Doris, Terri, Shelly

I made {most of} the quilt top in June during a quilt retreat at Gruber's where I met IRL ten wonderful quilty, bloggy friends!  The fabric (already cut into squares) and pattern was given to me by another wonderful quilty, bloggy friend Julie.

This red Suzani fabric by Kaffe Fassett is my new favorite!  In addition to Suzani being the center fabric, I also used it for the backing and the binding.  Wendy machine quilted all over swirly circles.
I'm working on the label which will include pictures of my quilty friends.

This is where my quilt is living at the moment.
Maybe now, my family will realize that this is MY CHAIR!

Want to make one yourself?  I am giving away the Red Centre pattern from Material Obsession.  Just leave me a comment on this post, and I will randomly draw a winner over the weekend.  For fun, I'd love to hear what it is you like about blogging and/or blog reading.

Have an amazing day!!!

  1. Gosh Rene'...this is a gorgeous quilt! Love the fabrics, the planned wonkiness of the design, and the quilting is perfect! My favorite part of blogging is that it's like show and tell day in kindergarten - a chance to show and talk about something that I'm excited about with others that share the passion. Of course, blog reading is great for seeing what your quilty friends are up to, making new friends, and getting inspired to try new designs and develop new skills.

  3. It is just gorgeous! I love the saturated colors of it and agree with you that the backing fabric is stunning. I'm so glad you are keeping this one for you! I'm not entering the giveaway, but what I like most about blog reading is the inspiration and learning that you get from seeing the beautiful work that others do and also making new friends!

  4. This quilt is fabulous! What a fun twist on an otherwise traditional pinwheel block! The fabrics are very eye catching too. I love the memories behind quilts...the story of the people who own them, where they came from.

Bloggy friends and blogging has helped me be inspired and encouraged on mornings where I would rather just sit and slump. I see all the beautiful things people are creating and it makes me want to sew!

Hope Thursday treats you well, Rene'.

  6. Rene - Your quilt is totally gorgeous! Glad to hear that you are keeping this one for yourself. As for blogging, I'm not sure I love doing it (and I primarily blog just to record my efforts), but I love reading other blogs because I enjoy seeing what others are doing. Blogs like yours inspire me to be a bit more creative. -And- I learn so much from those who are so generous with time and tutorials! Enjoy your lovely quilt!

  10. I love the design in this quilt! I started quilting in January. So far I've finished one quilt top, and now I'm working on my own style of quilt blocks (they're crooked, but I'm still learning).
