Fun Group

Yesterday was the first meeting of The Orlando Modern Quilt Guild.

I am totally psyched about this group!!!

This is the photo taken to record this historical event.  You are looking at a very creative bunch here!!!  We had sixteen wonderfully talented ladies attend.  Not shown in the photo is Chrissie who had to leave early.  Several members drove over two hours to attend.  Isn't that awesome!

I finally put faces to names I had only seen on a computer screen, met my bloggy friend Michele and spent time with a good friend (who definitely gave me moral support).  What could be better?!  Well, that was meant to as a rhetorical question, but the answer is if everyone could have attended.  It is so hard to accommodate everyone's schedule, no matter how hard you try.

Our meeting was held at The Sewing Studio, and the staff could not have been nicer.  They gave us a discount which was all the excuse I needed to do a little fabric shopping.  I saw this fabric and immediately thought of my friend Dee who has made some gorgeous blocks with these cute love birds.  I had to have it.  It makes me smile....as does Dee!

Have an amazing day!!!

  2. What an awesome day to have! Look at all those women who quilt and aren't stuffed shirts saying "You must do this this way and you can't do it this way!" How exciting for you!

Can you share what some of the things you talked about were and if you have plans for a bee?

Thanks for the kind words! Aren't those birds just the cutest little things!

Take care and if you get a chance, DISH!

  3. Rene, Saw you made your first "Dear Jane" - wish I had brought to the meeting mine! I made 30 plus block back in 2003! The other day I decided they had languished on my design wall long enough and put them together! Am hand quilting them – will post a picture if I get it finished before the next meeting or else bring the WIP. They seem to be happy they are no longer orphans.

Thanks again for getting the OMQG started, it is going to be great with such a wonderful group of quilters.
