I spent Monday just playing around with fabrics in my studio. It was rather fun.
Today I will be hanging out in the waiting room for several hours while my father-in-law has his "procedure". I really don't mind as I've done it before. However, I'm thinking of all the sewing time I will miss.
I thought it would be fun to try a little hand quilting while I am waiting. I played around with some solid fabrics and came up with this "liberated" log cabin block. This will be my play/practice piece. Any suggestions on threads (color or type) or stitching?
One square has been sewn on all 101 of my siggy blocks.
Here is a sneak peak of another project I am working on that came about playing with fabric. Do you think the blue or the pink works best for the binding? I look forward to your suggestions.
Have an amazing day!
I love that log cabin block Rene'! Great colors! Can't wait to see how you quilt it.
ReplyDeletePink, definitely the pink binding! Considering we're both CPA's I'm continually amazed at how different we are with our quilt projects. Where do you get that wild and free quilt spirit. With me it's all about the rules. I love your log cabin block, it would never occur to me to even give that a try!
ReplyDeleteI'm not help with the hand quilting but for the binding I think blue to frame or the pink if you want it to recede.
ReplyDeleteI would go with a darker thread and concentric squares for your quilting. And I usually like blue, but that pink looks awesome!
ReplyDeletehand quilting is not my forte, but I like Angela's suggestion!
ReplyDeletewhy not pink and blue for the binding? trying to be liberated could lead to a really cool binding combo!
thinking of you and your family today!
I can't decide. Both bindings are excellent! I am with Dee, why not both?

My suggestion for the hand quilting is to use a high contrast thread - that way the block is truly a learning/practice project. You will see your progress. For the binding I would suggest which ever one you see the least amount of in the piecing - that way the binding will make that color pop in the quilt. Whatever you choose will be great - you work is so fun!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove that pink!
