Really Random Thursday: Celebrations

I'm so happy Cindy has reinstated her weekly random posts.  My life is a series of randomness!

Saw this on Instagram...I NEED this!

This past week we celebrated Mother's Day, a couple of milestone birthdays and my middlest's graduation from college.

Proud family!
We weren't all together on Mother's Day Sunday, but the next best thing was seeing the grandparents attend Eric's graduation.  Here we are at the Honors Medallion Ceremony prior to the graduation.

Vanilla, Italian Creme and Red Velvet
Making the honorees serve their own cake
A few days prior to graduation was cousin Zach's 16th birthday...a few days after graduation was Ally's 16th birthday, so it was only natural that we celebrate with three cakes!

I think that's Eric!
Back to the graduation...our son is right there...can you spot him?!  Not content to graduate Summa Cum Laude, he was only one of thirteen that graduated with a perfect 4.0 (did you know an A- is not a 4.0?...crazy).  He worked extremely hard and earned every one of those A's.

He did it!
Thank goodness for the jumbotron when it came time for him to receive his diploma!

Class of 2015!
Eric's ceremony took place at night, so we had to get the classic picture in front of Westcott Fountain another day.

The school could make a lot of money by providing professional photographers here.
We waited until Sunday when the line wasn't that long.

Throwback Thursday to when I graduated from FSU.
Thirty-one years ago the line obviously wasn't an issue.  I told my husband we started a trend...ha!

Found on Facebook
At another college graduation ceremony there's a trend to decorate the caps.  I scrolled through quite a few to find our friend's son's cap and found this one that is my favorite.

Throwback Thursday to when Max was a cover boy
Oh, and Max also had a birthday.  He's a whopping 11 years old.

Hilarious!
Clever book title spotted at Barnes & Noble while gift shopping.

experimenting with the meme generator
If you made it this far, I thank you!

Tune in tomorrow....
Come back tomorrow for blogger's quilt festival where I reveal pictures of Eric's graduation quilt.

Really Random Thursday: In Seattle

When I was in Washington last week visiting my grandson, we stayed in Seattle and pretended to be tourists, which technically I am.

view from the ferry
First I had to arrange the Leo swap from his other grandmother.  Then....

text between grandmothers!
from Bainbridge Island
We rode the ferry....

only in Seattle!
 stayed at a hotel.....

it's the little things ;-)
where we pushed some buttons....

since we didn't bring our own pet they gave us a fish...temporarily
and took care of our own fish....

had to buy a cheap-o stroller because parents forgot to pack one
We went to the zoo....

pink flamingos
where we spent most of the time with flamingos...

it was rather hot this day
and brought one home with us....

the pretend one
We took the Monorail to the Children's Museum...

Flamingo came with us
where Leo was super excited to play with other kids...

I'll take it
and I got a discounted ticket....

Yum
We ate sugared almonds....

hmmm....maybe too much sugar in those almonds
before heading back to the hotel to Leo's favorite activity....

Leo kept pointing to my phone requesting "Ally"  "Eric"
and FaceTiming with Ally (and Eric and the parents)....

Undercover Quilts
We even randomly found a quilt shop....

cute shop...not great cell phone pictures
really...it was random and not planned...

Leo and I met the owner Linda and made a couple of purchases

and visited the downtown library (no pictures of that field trip).
I got my exercise
After saying goodbye to Leo, I consoled myself with a trip to the Chihuly Exhibit.

No words!!!!
Those pictures deserve a post all in itself.....

Really Random Thursday: Speed

I really just want to post two pictures and say it is much easier to photograph a racing car than a running toddler!

photographing at Sebring
Of course on the race track, you know where the cars are going.

Oops...
That is not necessarily the case (if ever) with a toddler!

gone in a flash
Since there should be more than two pictures in a RRT post, here are a few more.

Seattle Children's Museum
I spent a few days with my grandson playing tourist in Seattle.  I haven't uploaded all of the photographs so I'm sure Leo will reappear in next week's Really Random Thursday.

fun with TP
Apparently, Leo would rather play with the toilet paper than visit the Chihuly exhibit.  That's probably a better idea anyway.

what were they thinking?
Back to the race cars....who would take a perfectly good Ferrari and give it a University of Miami paint job?!!!  Now if it was a Florida State University makeover that's a different story.

Who let the Ford on the race track?!
During the "everyone can go on the track" lap, my husband's uncle took his Explorer for a spin.  He was as excited as a little kid.  Cracked me up seeing his Ford doing laps with Ferraris and Lamborghinis.  You should see the selfies he took while driving.

Really Random Thursday: End of Summer

My daughter started school yesterday (high school sophomore!), so I guess summer around here has officially ended.  I took the traditional first day of school photo, but she said she would disown and unfollow me (on Instagram) if I posted it anywhere on social media.

the Epcot golf ball
However, before school started back we had fun playing tourists.  Disney is quite close to us, so of course we rarely go there.  My husband's company had a retreat there last weekend which gave us an excuse to visit.  I get a kick out of Disney's merchandising and use of their logo.

only at Disney ;-))
For example, these Mickey Ear towels were placed on the beds...

room key and Epcot ticket

....and Disney has gone to wrist bands for room keys and incidental charges...makes purchasing a little too convenient...

embarrassed the kids by posing for pictures
Our weekend "away" was pretty short actually.  One day was spent by the pool with the evening being set aside for Epcot firework viewing.

tasty
We had a quick dinner at the Mexican restaurant where I had the best margarita ever!  Mango, blueberry and basil with chili powder on the rim.  Trust me, it tastes much better than it sounds!  I may have had a second one.

lame fireworks photo
I took a short video of the fireworks to send to Leo since he loves the "boom" ;-))

Oh and tomorrow is National Relaxation Day!!  Make it a good one.

Oh yeah
