So glad it is Friday. Also glad I have at least one coin quilt finished. This is the quilt top for Coin Quilt #1. Still not sure which sister this will go to.
The rows really aren't crooked. The railing post prevented the quilt from hanging straight. This quilt was made with the Sorbet fabric. I used a Moda solid for the sashing. My daughter had suggested using a different color and was not happy when she came home from school and saw what I had done. I explained that I was wanting to finish ONE of these without having to go out and buy more fabric. (Why do I even feel the need to explain my fabric decisions to a 10 year old?!)
Again, I promise the rows are straighter than they appear. This was all I could do with the fabric I have on hand. Of the other two coin quilts, I know one will be fine with white sashing which is in inventory, but that's the quilt that needed more strips of fabric ordered. The other quilt will require purchasing fabric for the sashing. All three need fabric for binding and backing. I did try and be good and look through my stash, but nothing looked right. I will be shopping today. First for a new laptop, and then on to my LQS for sashing, binding and backing fabric.
Click on the Sew and Tell button to see the other Friday finishes. Enjoy your weekend!!!
It's very pretty and good for you for completing it from your stash!
ReplyDeleteI am just now getting through the Virtual Quilt Comments...and am so enjoying your whole blog! This quilt is beautiful, love the fabrics and colors!
ReplyDeleteYou are fast! It's a good thing since you have 2 more to make! It turned out beautifully.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a beautiful gift...would you adopt me? LOL How about a taupe or darker "lineny" (is that a word?) fabric for sashing? Red Pepper Quilts has used this color and it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and can't wait to see the other two!
Quilting and computers - my two favourite things to shop for! Lucky you! Love your quilt top - and double congrats for doing it all from your stash. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt top!! Hope you have a blast shopping, but glad you don't have my credit card number!! LOL!!! Really enjoyed your sew and tell.
ReplyDeleteBlessings
These have turned out lovely--way to go destashing. I just read a great commentary in the Int'l Quilt Festival mag giving us permission to buy bits in order to make our stashes sing! So it's ok to get some for the 3rd quilt--because it means one less UFO!
ReplyDeleteI think the white looks good. Really shows off the fabrics.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love your choice of fabrics for this.
ReplyDeleteI am all in favor of working from your stash...and that quilt turned out lovely!
ReplyDeletethis coin quilt is so pretty...i am cracking up thinking about your daughter being upset with your choice....very cute
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I understand about explaining oneself to a 10 YO... I have two critics myself who like to add input :)
ReplyDeleteJust simply love the colors you used. Reminds me of spring. I so have to make a coin quilt now. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt and the white really works. I'm sure the next two are going look just as good. Coin quilts are so quick to make yet so effective.
ReplyDeleteThis is so, so pretty. (At this point imagine me drooling all over your pretty quilt!) I love the white sashing - it gives the quilt such a fresh look.
ReplyDeleteYes I'm with everybody else this quilt is very pretty and I'm loving those swirly fabrics. Even though its fun to go fabric shopping it kinda feels good to use what you already have in your stash. I too find myself explaining to my girls who are 10 and 12 my fabric choices sometimes.
ReplyDeleteThese coin quilts are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! And doesn't it feel great when you find just what you need in your stash?
ReplyDeleteYour comment about your daughter made me laugh. My daughters insist that whenever I ask their opinion on colors or fabrics, I always do the exact opposite of what they suggest. lol But really, that's just not true! I do listen to them... sometimes! ;o)
I love this, it's great! I am planning on making one of these coin quilts myself and I love seeing other people's versions! Lovely.
ReplyDeletePretty coins! They look so simple, but to get them all lined up properly is a real accomplishment - great job!
ReplyDeleteI love stacked coin quilts. Your colors are so soothing. Good job!
ReplyDeleteI love the fabrics you have chosen for your coin quilt. Very refreshing.
ReplyDeleteI love a pretty coin quilt and this definitely fits that description! I also love the white sashing. It's what I would have done. You can tell her that. :)
