The third coin quilt top is completed. Hurray!!!
This is what it looked like before adding the top and bottom borders. Do you remember the problem I had with my strips not being long enough?
Can you tell how I worked around it? In addition to reducing the length of the coin strips and eliminating one row of coins....
...I added these little strips in the corners. I had planned on adding an additional border to make the quilt bigger, but decided it is big enough. To be honest, I was just ready to be done with it.
Another Moments picture to show the pieced backing...note the mess visible when no zoom used. I used a blue fabric in my stash along with four fat quarters of Picnic Parade.
The binding fabric originally was to be some Picnic Parade dots, but then I discovered this roll of leftover binding strips from the Horizons batik quilt....already cut, sewn and pressed!!!
I am behind in my blog reading...hope to check out all the Sew and Tell Friday posts along with other favorite blogs. Have an amazing day!!!!
Perfect solution to your sashing problem - don't you just love it when you have enough binding left over to finish up another quilt? I confess to saving all my binding leftovers (even the small pieces), and I think at some point I'll sew an assortment of them together to bind a scrappy quilt.
ReplyDeleteSmart cookie on the sashing. It is always great not to have to do the binding. It can get very tideous, and if you're klutzy like me dangerous.
ReplyDeleteVery creative way to take care of the border issue! Looks great.
ReplyDeleteYou solved that problem very well. I love the end result. Like Mary I save all my left over binding and they are great for using on I Spy quilts.
ReplyDeleteYou are so very clever! You've done such a great job on the quilts! I'm impressed and I just know the ones who are blessed with these beautiful quilts will know how much you care for them and love them!
ReplyDeleteYou are a treasure!
Great fix!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love the work around... looks great. The binding works perfect and have to love that it was ready and waiting for you!
