We just had our fifth Gruber's retreat, and I just can't put into words how much I love these girls!
Michelle and Shelly were missed, but we sewed virtually through Instagram hashtags, texting, and FaceTiming. Fun, but so not the same.
We added an extra day this year which still wasn't enough.
Mary and Doris |
During our four days we did our fair share of hugging,
silliness after a day of sewing |
and laughing,
pieced all my MCM Bee spiderweb blocks |
and sewing,
our one night out |
and eating,
collaborative quilt (read more on AJ's blog) |
show and telling,
fabric sharing is just one aspect of our sharing |
behind of the scenes of our traditional group photo |
and picture taking,
gifts from my sweet and creative friends |
and of course happy exchanging!
Is it July, 2015 yet?!

Looks like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteHow did you all start going?
It really was a great weekend! I loved having that extra day this year. I'm so lucky to have you all for my friends. I miss you already. xo
ReplyDeleteCould not have said it (or illustrated) it better!! Miss every last one of you!!!
ReplyDeleteHow blessed you are to have such wonderful quilty friends. Looks like a great time
ReplyDeleteSo neat that you could go and meet with such lovely women. I know you had a great time, and have formed meaningful relationships with all of them. It was really special that you also made a quilt for Doris. I have no doubt she shed tears when you gave it to her.
ReplyDeleteI'm always so excited to see everyone's photos from this trip - I've been following a bunch of you for years and it looks like such a special time! So happy you all found each other. :-)
ReplyDeleteI got the rundown from Cindy and I can tell it's a highlight of her year, too. How fun to spend time together and quilt and talk--love all the "behind the scenes" photos, too! And that quilt for Doris is just spectacular! You guys rock!

I love you all so very much. It's really hard to describe the bond to someone else. I'm so glad I went out of my comfort zone four years ago to spend a weekend with women I did not know. It is one of the biggest highlights of my year.
