Happy Friday!! Thank you everyone for the warm "Welcome Back" to blogging this week.
I have a recent finish to share, even though it isn't from this week. This idea for my friend's 50th birthday quilt has been floating in my brain for quite a while now. The quilt pattern is from Sunday Morning Quilts, and I used 50 (not 48, 49, or 51) different low volume fabrics and sprinkled in some bright, cheerful, and meaningful (to our friendship) prints.

Some of my favorite prints represent our girls' trip to NYC, dinner club, Halloween and Christmas spent together, shopping, happy hour, and our accounting backgrounds.
The quilt was backed in a pretty Kaffe Fasset wide back print. It seemed appropriate to use a print from Amanda Jean's Good Neighbors fabric line for the binding. I did run short and pieced in a gray text fabric to make up the difference.
It's good to blog again, and it's an excellent feeling to have a quilt finish. Linking up with Crazy Mom Quilt's finish it up Friday.
Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a fabulous weekend!
Happy stitching,
Beautiful quilt! I like it very much.
ReplyDeletevisiting from crazy mum quilts. What a fabulous quilt. I love that pattern but using a more neutral palette with pops of colour is amazing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful symbol of your friendship. Love that you quilted words in it and put in prints with meaning. Great finish!
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt, and wonderful to hear you have a long arm now!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful quilt! I love all the shades of gray with just a few pops of color.
ReplyDeleteThat is really lovely! I love the way you incorporated colorful and thoughtful pieces on the front.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful finish, René! I love the variety in this, especially with the eye-catching splashes of color. It's really wonderful. She must be a very special friend to warrant such a time-consuming gift. Happy to know you're using that longarm, and hope it has become comfortable to use.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun quilt! I have that pattern, photocopied from her book, pinned to my bulletin board as a quilt I'd like to someday make. Guess I'd best get started on it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great present for your friend. I am sure she loved it.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great feeling to finish, I'm sure! Lovely!

ReplyDeleteLove the variety and the pops of color and meaning. Lucky friend.
ReplyDeleteI love this, I have a growing stack of low volume prints that I've been wondering how best to use, this is a great plan. Although my quilt will have to be named 60 Shades, lol.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great quilt you have gifted your friend Rene! I love the little splashes of colour amongst the 50 shades of grey! I have a large stash of low volume type fabrics that I am dying to dive into too!
