Finally got the courage to start quilting SuperStar....
...and already am having second thoughts about not sending it out to longarmer!
I quilted swirls inside each star with variegated thread.
The quilting shows up more in some stars than in others.
I started quilting loops in the negative background space with neutral thread. I didn't get too far (but far enough) before realizing my tension on the back was all wrong...these stitches will have to come out! Ugh!!! I'm determined that I will one day love FMQ....but this is not that day!
Have an amazing Monday!
We will get there!! Keep at it! If it makes you feel any better, I found out a couple months ago, I will need a new machine to get any better. Apparently, my needle is never going to go fast enough for me! Since we are still house hunting, and trying not to spend money, must sell quilts to get new machine! On the up side, the dealer couldn't believe that I could do what I am doing with my machine!!
ReplyDeleteGood for you for tackling this beauty on your own! It's hard to pass on such a treasure to someone else to finish, so I admire your perseverance in getting this one done on your own. Good idea to work in the negative space around the stars to make them pop.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Terri. But on the other hand, it's making me a bit nervous about trying FMQ on my own. Yikes!
ReplyDeleteI love what you have done so far. I feel your frustration, but think you'll be so glad you quilted it yourself once you are done. Hang in there!!!
ReplyDeleteI think that your "super star" is going to love the quilt made by his "super" mom.
