Saturday was OMQG's workshop with Tonya Ricucci, and it was awesome!!!!
Sampling of our letters |
I (Michele, Beth and Kathryn) had the pleasure of dining with Tonya and her friend Kathy the night before the workshop at one of my favorite restaurants....one of the perks of being President ;-) It was exciting to finally meet Tonya IRL. We all had a lovely time, and this would have been a great opportunity to get a photo of us all looking our best, but as you can tell by the lack of photographs in this post, no one took advantage of this opportunity ;-)
Word Play Quilts....now autographed! |
We had a great turnout for the workshop, and everyone had a fabulous time learning to be unruly! There were fabric scraps flying everywhere as members pieced letters, wonky stars and crumb blocks. Tonya is an encouraging, patient teacher who generously autographed our books. She is just as nice as I thought and her workshop just as fun and exciting as I thought it would be! It was fabulous seeing her quilts up close....seeing them online just isn't the same. I was especially interested in seeing her hand quilting, and it is just spectacular! The day went by way too quickly....before we knew it, we had to pack up and say goodbye to our new friends.
As is usually the case, my one regret is that I did not take enough photographs. Actually, the only one I took is that one up top of all our letters. I can only hope that I am fortunate enough to get another opportunity to visit with Tonya...if so, I won't let my camera sit idle ;-)
Have an amazing day!!!!
Sounds like a wonderful time! Bummer about not getting pictures. I do that all the time.
ReplyDeletesounds like a great time!I forget to get pictures sometimes also.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly would have been a great "photo op". I always take pics with my iphone, (which I had with me), and couldn't even remember to do that! Well, I guess that's what happens when you have as much fun as we did!!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a wonderful time. That is just great. Sometimes it is good to not have to worry about taking pictures so that you can just really focus in on what you are doing and enjoying the moment.
ReplyDeleteps Our electricity, phones, internet just came back on! Yippee!
Great liberated letters!!! Mine never look very liberated, in fact they always look rather uptight!!! ;0)
ReplyDeleteHow fun! What a neat experience and memory to have as you continue to quilt!
ReplyDeleteLiberated letters are a little scary and on the wild side.
I had a blast with ya'all - what a warm, wonderful, welcoming group. yeah, I feel like an idiot for forgetting about taking photos of everyone's marvelous work. Would definitely love to come back one up, whenever ya'all want to schedule another class.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I have Tonya's book and I'm anxious to try some of her ideas. I'll be at the quilt retreat at Gruber's (emailing you with some more questions....) so maybe you can give me some pointers!
